Account Manager
Polco is seeking an Account Manager (AM) to strengthen relationships with our government partners and ensure they achieve long-term success with our civic engagement platform, benchmark surveys, and data dashboards. As a key member of the Revenue Team, you will manage renewals, drive expansions, and help public sector leaders use Polco to create more inclusive, transparent, and data-driven communities.
This role will be focused on building trust, nurturing relationships, and identifying opportunities to expand Polco’s reach within existing accounts. Internally, you will collaborate closely with Polco’s Survey Research, Product, and Marketing Teams to align strategies and ensure a cohesive approach to customer engagement and business development efforts. This position will report to our Chief Revenue Officer and play a key role in maintaining Polco’s current customer base and shaping Polco’s growth in the GovTech market.
Goals & Expectations:
- Proactively manage a high-volume portfolio of accounts, with a focus on consistent retention and timely contract execution.
- Identify and execute on opportunities for expansion and cross-selling within existing accounts.
- Your primary responsibility is to retain and renew customers, and expand within current customer accounts; these are the goals that your quota will be based on.
- Actively pursue win-back opportunities with lapsed accounts to restore relationships.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by aligning Polco’s solutions with client goals and challenges.
- Lead renewals, coordinate procurement requirements, and ensure compliance with public sector contracting processes.
- Maintain accurate account data in Hubspot and provide reliable forecasts on renewals, expansions, and win-backs.
- Work closely with your Revenue, Survey Research, and Customer Success colleagues to ensure seamless handoffs from new sales to long-term account management.
- Adapt quickly in a growing startup environment, taking initiative to address challenges and pivoting priorities as the business evolves.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as Polco’s business and customer needs continue to grow and develop.
Day-to-Day Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive check-ins with assigned accounts to ensure satisfaction, adoption of Polco products, and measurable outcomes.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, providing same-day turnaround on time-sensitive requests such as quotes or renewals.
- Create and maintain strategic account plans that outline client goals, renewal timelines, potential risks, and strategies for expansion.
- Regularly track account activity, usage patterns, and engagement metrics to identify risks early and surface opportunities for deeper adoption.
- Engage in targeted outreach to new stakeholders or departments within existing client organizations.
- Partner with our survey research, data science, and product experts to deliver insights, best practices, and tailored recommendations.
- Represent Polco at conferences and events to maintain visibility with existing clients and identify potential expansions.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of account management, customer success, or consultative sales experience in GovTech or a similar, regulated industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a large portfolio of accounts with strong results in renewals and expansion.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibility with clients, acting as a long-term partner.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex and technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Organized, process-driven, and detail-oriented in managing multiple accounts and deadlines.
- Creative problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $80,000-$100,000
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $110,000-$180,000
Base salary will be determined by relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated track record within the posted range. OTE includes base salary plus commission based on renewal performance, account expansion, and revenue growth targets.
